Dwarven industry uses encoded magic to run machinery. Magical operations can be repeated, repaired, and shared, allowing people excluded from hereditary and scholarly magical elites to use powers once kept beyond their reach.

The Greathold gave this discovery somewhere to grow. Long before industrialization, it had deep routes, lifts, laws governing expeditions, trained labour, and foreign markets at its gates. Industry used that established delving economy to extract dungeon resources continuously.

The benefits reach into ordinary life. Spell engines warm homes, preserve harvests, and drain dangerous mines. Millions now have access to magic. But these services draw on the same crystal supplies as the extraction machinery that made them possible.

That dependence is where industrial success becomes dangerous. Homes and public services come to rely on crystal energy, automated infrastructure, and dungeon products. Decisions about extraction therefore also affect whether people can heat their homes, keep food, and work safely underground.
